My name is Mrs. Brilman and this is my classroom website where you will find a description of what your child is learning, educational links to visit at home, and pictures from our daily adventures!

Our Class
What We Are Learning
Language Arts
~We are focusing on short and long vowel sounds. Long vowels say the letter name (a as in acorn). Short vowels say the letter sound (a as in apple). We are also working on reading strategies (lips the fish, flippy dolphin, trying lion, stretchy snake, chunky monkey, skippy frog, and eagle eye). We write everyday with a focus on spaces between our words, starting with a capital, and ending with a period. We are gaining a better understanding of how to sound words out and spell with making words (spelling program) and daily centers.
Math
~We are currently working on addition and subtraction.
Science
~We have completed units on: creating colour, seasons, building things, and now we are focused on our 5 Senses!
Social
~Our first unit is Canada's dynamic communities. We look at Prairie, Acadian, and Inuit communities.
Pyscial Education (PE)
~Students will work on cooperation, particiation, and team building through a variety of games. During the months of December and January we learned all about basketball. In February we are starting floor hockey!
Health
~We will discuss personal health and the 7 habits.
